FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you accept insurance?

Bloom Physical Therapy & Wellness is covered by your out of network physical therapy benefits, which allows us to spend more one-on-one time with our clients and provide the highest quality of care. We collect payment at the time of service in the form of cash, credit card, check, flexible savings account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA).

You may be able to file this with your insurance company “out of network” reimbursement. This is solely your responsibility as the client. Upon completion of each visit, we will provide a superbill with all the necessary information to submit it to your insurance.

2

Do I need a referral?

In the state of Wisconsin, a referral from a physician is not required to attend physical therapy. If your therapist feels an additional medical examination or treatment is indicated, we may refer you to another provider.

3

What should I expect at my first visit?

The first session is a 90-minute session, conducted in the comfort of your home. We will start with gathering information, including your history, concerns, and symptoms.

After we take a thorough history, an initial hands-on assessment will be completed. The assessment typically includes an observation of posture, pelvic alignment, external pelvic and hip muscles and an internal pelvic floor muscle test to examine the muscle strength, tone and function of your pelvic floor muscles.

An internal vaginal muscle assessment will be performed with your written and verbal permission and only if you are comfortable. If you would prefer to wait until a future session or not at all, we will respect your wishes and still be able to successfully treat you.

4

How long after birth should I see a pelvic physical therapist?

We are thrilled to provide therapy for you in the first few days postpartum, including external muscle and alignment assessment, pain management, breathing exercises, and education on feeding postures and tissue healing. Internal assessment and treatment of pelvic floor muscles will happen once you are cleared by your medical provider, usually around 6 weeks postpartum.

5

Can my partner/baby/pet be present during my session?

Yes! We are more than happy to have others present during your session, if you are comfortable.

6

Can I still do physical therapy if I have my period?

Yes, if you are comfortable with it! We are still able to treat during your menstrual cycle, and are happy to focus only on external techniques and exercises during that session.
